Resolution is a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive manner.
Resolution was founded in 1982 by a group of family lawyers who believed that a non-confrontational approach to family law issues would produce better outcomes for separating families and their children. We at RJT Solicitors, as members of Resolution, agree wholeheartedly with this approach and adhere to Resolutions’ Code of Practice.
We appreciate that our clients are often experiencing a great sense of loss and lack of confidence when they initially consult us. We do our best to reduce or manage any conflict and confrontation; for example, by not using inflammatory language. We support and encourage our clients to put the best interests of any children first and always act with honesty and integrity. We at RJT help clients to understand and manage potential long term financial and emotional consequences of decisions. We listen and treat everyone with respect and without judgement.
As members of Resolution we are required to continually develop our knowledge and skills.
Resolution works to raise awareness of family law issues and the benefits of constructive and non-confrontational approaches to family disputes. An example of one such successful campaign has been the end of the ‘blame game’ and the implementation of ‘no fault’ divorce, which is due to come into effect in April 2022, meaning that couples will be able to get divorced without one person needing to lay blame on the other. Another example where Resolution is helping raise awareness is for cohabiting couples, whom the law does not recognise in the same way as those who are married or in a civil partnership. If you and your partner are not married/ in a civil partnership you may be surprised that you have very little legal protection if you break up. Resolution is campaigning for cohabiting couples to have at least basic rights on relationship breakdown or death and is also working to raise awareness so cohabiting couples can take measures to protect themselves.
We at RJT Solicitors are proud to be members of Resolution and we like to think that our clients benefit from the way we work in striving to reach the best outcome in a non-confrontational and sensitive and professional manner.
